“The Real Goss” is a (working) prototype app done for a Shazam hackday. The song is first recognised (using an internal Shazam SDK available to me). The app then picks up the names of any celebrity from either the title or the author of the song.

A number of pre-structured Google searches are then performed to scrape real, in the wild gossip about the celebrity.

The app is done in Coffeescript + Processing.js; a minimal web bridge triggers the song recognition through the Shazam SDK (which is implemented in Objective C + ARM compiled library) and receives the song title/artist.

Due to most of the intellectual property belonging to Shazam Entertainment Ltd, this prototype and its source aren’t publicly available.
